PCJB: Town Pools

Today, Te Kauru (my class) and Te Puawai went on a trip. We travelled by bus which took a little while but we eventually arrived at the town pools. The one gleaming pool in all of them was the extremely deep, 2-metre deep pool with a diving board, my favourite! As we had to go change, I couldn’t stop thinking about it until Ruby (my sister) scared me. In fact, she scared all the girls in the changing room. We all laughed. The teachers and the lifeguard put us in groups. First, my group had to do a relay swimming race, one of the things I’m bad at. I went twice but as I was about to go onto my miserable third, the change to the deep pool saved me. I did flips, bombs and even belly flops (only once (super painful)). When we had to go into the normal pool but I kept on going at the deep pool. It was so much fun. 2 mins later, I and my sister Ruby tried to go to the bottom but we only got half way before we burst with air. I quickly grabbed Ruby by her arm and rushed up, gulping air as we re-surfaced to the top. We only had a few hrs before we had to go back to school so I had some lunch, went on the bus and slept as it drove us home.

Rhib riding: A moment in time.

Rhib riding: A moment in time.
7.2.19

The first thing that caught my eye was the rhib boats on each side of the navy ship. When it was my turn I was ready with my life jacket on and courage. ZOOM! We went as soon as we hit the water. I saw playful dolphins swimming, creating bubbles as they dived. People behind me screamed and yet I could hear them over the BOOMING motor. The calm waves hitting the boat rocked us a little. The smell was as salty as the sea and so was the taste. Bloch. The wind was cruising through my hair as if it were worms swarming through. The sea water splashing in the small boat covered me and the handlebars that I need to hold on to. Slippery enough for me to think to myself, “Don’t let go or you will fly of like a plane without wings, diving into the ocean floor.” I held on tightly with my legs and my hands, screaming as the boat lifted off the ocean’s surface. But wow, was the view breathtaking. I was disappointed because I wanted another go but sadly, I wasn’t allowed to.
